As of August 16, 1998, White Lightning is officially closed to new members. I'm sure if you're discovering this for the first time, you're probably confused. So here's a brief explanation. As the band's popularity has grown, their fan base has become increasingly diverse. As it diversifies, it becomes far more difficult for any one list to house them all without systematically alienating half of the members. And there's no reason that WL should try to house them all. There are many other places for people to go. There are chat lines, a newsgroup - alt.music.everclear, the Downtime mailing list, and many different message boards. Closing the list seems like the best action to prevent the list from falling apart. I'm not ready to let it dissolve. So, for now, WL is closed.
